Welcome
to Achinglegs - walking around Salisbury, The New Forest and South Wessex
|
The
New Forest and South Wessex area of the UK is a very popular place
for a pleasant day's walking. Visitors and locals alike are fortunate
to experience great scenery in varied countryside both in and around
the New Forest and the cathedral city of Salisbury.
There
are many walks set out in books and leaflets and I have re-walked
some of my favourites and will now share them with you. With
additional personal notes and observations, I feel that whichever
walk you choose to do, you will return home satisfied from a healthy
and fulfilling day out. |
|
For
your peace of mind, each walk starts in a populated area or car park
and not in the middle of nowhere. Therefore I hope you can leave your
car not worrying about its safety and enjoy your walk.
Each
walk is designed to provide a pleasant few hours ramble and vary in
length from 3 to 12 miles. All have been tested with our dog and are
all suitable for 'mans best friend' to accompany you on your walkies.
Please
come over to my guest page to let me know you have visited. Don't be
shy! Just a quick note to say if you are local or are thinking of
visiting this area in the future would be nice. Many thanks in advance.
Happy
rambling.

The Salisbury and South Wessex area is covered by fourteen varied
walks. See prehistoric monuments or meander through medieval
watermeadows. View Saxon churches or Elizabethan thatched cottages.
Your path may take you through coppiced woodland or ancient farmland.
Finish by relaxing in a snug village inn or by having tea in a market
town coffee house.
|
|

Twelve walks take you through this nine hundred year old ancient
hunting forest. Experience the diversity of forest plains, bogland or
deciduous woodland. Although very busy in summer, within minutes of
starting your walk the only sounds you may hear are that of Dartford
Warblers twittering or the rustle of a fallow deer fleeing in the
distance through the woods.
